Col Tushar Joshi was commissioned in The Kumaon Regiment and subsequently served in various Terrains and Environment before being posted to NSG the National Security Guards.
While being in Special Action Group, NSG, Col Tushar Joshi led the operation at Akshardham Temple , Gandhi Nagar Gujarat on 24 Sep 2002 wherein two terrorists killed 40 civilians and had taken 90 civilians hostage. Colonel then Major Tushar Joshi, killed the terrorists and rescued the hostages. While doing so , Col Tushar Joshi received gun shot injuries on neck. He was conferred with Gallantry award SENA MEDAL by the President of India on 15 Aug 2003.
Col Tushar Joshi, Sena Medal has specialised in Counter Terrorist Operations and has undergone training with Marines in USA in Counter Terrorist Operations and has 30 long years of illustrious service behind him.
